A Book Extravaganza - featuring classics and some of my favorite books
Classic: Twenty Thousands Leagues Under the Sea by Jules Verne
Synopsis: Professor Pierre Aronnax is part of a team sent to investigate reports of a sea monster suspected to be a narwhal off the coast of New York. They soon discover that the monster is in fact a submarine called the Nautilus, headed by Captain Nemo, an enigmatic man who has withdrawn from the world. When Arronnax and his team are taken prisoner by Nemo, the Nautilus heads into the deepest fathoms of the seas where adventure and discovery await.
My Favorites: The Tales of Uncle Remus: The Adventures of Brer Rabbit by Julius Lester

I loved Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea when I was a kid. And I was thrilled when I found the sequel, Mysterious Island. But believe it or not, I have never read To Kill a Mockingbird.

I haven't read Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea yet and didn't know that there was a sequel. Thanks for telling me that. I believe I had to read To Kill a Mockingbird for school when I was about 12/13 (7th grade) and loved it. Hope you will be able read it as well. ~Meg
DeleteI admit that I think I remember the Disney ride better than the book (that is worse than remembering a movie more). Did just see the play To Kill a Mockingbird that jarred my memory for the book.

I haven't read Jules Verne, so I can't say. To Kill a Mockingbird is one of my favorite books of all time. ~Meg
DeleteI always go back to the classics - so much great reading.
ReplyDeleteThese three books take me back to a younger time. Jules Verne was a tough read for an 11 year old but it was great for the imagination.
